The Second World War in color.
Francis Dréer delivers in La conquête du ciel a presentation and analysis of the air force during the Second World War, through an exceptional iconography, the totality of the photographs having been colorized especially for the book by the Akg-images agency (Archiv für Kunst und Geschichte/Archive for Art and History).
During the Second World War, military aviation adapted to the changing times and played a decisive role: from the Blitzkrieg to the dropping of the two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, this superbly illustrated book retraces the major episodes of this conflict that marked the 20th century. The main protagonists are shown, as well as the major theaters of operation and, of course, all the aircraft of this aerial war, from the Messerschmitt 109 to the B-29 Superfortress. These unpublished color photographs are the result of meticulous research and allow us to bring back to life a major episode of our History.
