From book to book, the history of the French motorcycle, poorly documented for too long, will end up having an almost complete catalog. A new stage has just been reached, and in a beautiful way, with "The adventures of Clermontois engines", a beautiful work which gives you in details and images the whole history of AMC engines which were the main four-stroke engines of the French motorcycles from the 1950s, so popular in collections today.
AGF, Alcyon, Automoto, DS Malterre, Favor, Follis, Guiller, Liberia, Monet Goyon, New Map, Scootavia, Syphax… 46 brands in France and 8 in Italy, Spain and Great Britain were powered by the Ateliers de Mécanique du Center created in Clermont-Ferrand by the brothers Henri and Louis Chartoire followed by his son Gilbert. Such a success deserved to be told.
