At the dawn of the year 2000, the Avantime, the result of a joint project between Renault and Matra, reinterprets French automotive luxury by combining pleasure and innovation. The Avantime is a coupé with its famous double doors, a cabriolet with its "open-air" function and an MPV with a forward-looking design. It opens up a "third way" in Renault's top-of-the-range offensive. Marketed in September 2001 with a 3l V6 engine, the Avantime had to wait many months for the addition of a 2l turbo petrol version followed by a 2.2 dCi turbo diesel version. Unfortunately, this innovative and offbeat concept did not succeed in creating its own market and quickly achieving its sales objectives.
